Few months ago, we heard that Apple could come up with Siri for the iPad. In fact, we found the evidence of it in iOS 5.1 beta where the Dictation and Privacy info revealed about the possibility. Also, it is expected to be one of the most prominent feature in the next generation tablet from Apple which would be unveiled today. However, we have our own reasons why Siri for iPad may not be released anytime soon.
We all know about the fact that Siri has its own set of commands which are dependent on some of the applications on iPhone 4S. These applications include Clock, Weather, Stocks, etc. When you couldn’t set an alarm on an iPad, ask for weather or checkout the stock, it wouldn’t make sense for the company to bring Siri into the tablet. Interestingly, Apple doesn’t even use Stock and Weather widget in the notification center of the iPad due to the same reason. If there’s no inbuilt application, there’s no way to get any of those widgets on the notification center. Perhaps, Apple could have figure out a way to resolve it through their server, but we are really skeptical about it.
Moreover, the User Interface of Siri on iPad would feel a bit stretched if Apple extends it to work on full screen. Let’s take an example of the push notification center which is not allowed to capture the whole screen when pulled down on iPad. On the contrary, when you do the same on iPhone, it hides the entire home screen. Needless to say, Apple may not want to degrade the user experience in any way.
There are many other things which could be done if Apple port Siri on the iPad. May be, Apple could use the Siri for the dictation on the notes, email, iMessage, documents and so on. This would save lots of time for the users who spend hours writing on it. We are still not sure what this Cupertino based company has in mind considering the future of its artificial intelligence. Our fingers are already crossed and we expect Apple to prove us completely wrong.
Do you expect the same? Let’s know in the comment section.
